The Eagles Deny Fans Wishes

Last December The Eagles were to be honored by The kennedy Center.

The band decided to postpone the honor until 2016 because Glenn Frey was ill.

As we all know now, Glenn passed away on January 18th 2016.

The Eagles will still be honored this year.

Just one thing, they are only including the late Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit.

That means they are ignoring founding members Bernie Leadon (Who was with them on their last tour) and Randy Meisner as well as the man who composed the music for “Hotel California”, Don Felder.

Brandon Butler, a fan, started a petition at Change.org to include the three who were left out.

He amassed over 10,000 signatures before he got an answer.

Unfortunately the answer was no.

Butler got this response “The Kennedy Center consulted with the Eagles and through that discussion, it was determined that the four band members who ‘carried the torch’ – Don Henley, the late Glenn Frey, Timothy B. Schmit and Joe Walsh —  will be awarded the Honors. We appreciate that there will be some debate about who constitutes the Eagles. This determination does not discredit the contributions of former band members.”

The contributions these three men made to The Eagles should not be able to be ignored.

I would be willing to guess that after watching “The History of The Eagles” that this decision was mainly made by Don Henley.

There should be something more we can do.

What do you think?

Below is a performance of “Desparado” from the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors that was done by Miranda Lambert despite The Eagles postponing their honor until 2016.
